Social awareness is the ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports. This scale by Transform Education is a self-reported student survey asks students to reflect on and assess their social awareness, and has been piloted and scaled in schools, most notably as part of the CORE Districts’ data measurement system in California.
